  The instrument panel is positioned directly before the driver and features a 12.3-inch (310 mm) liquid crystal display electronic instrument cluster.[49][168] Initially, the infotainment control touchscreen featured a 17-inch (430 mm) multi-touch display[169] divided into four sections. The top section shows status icons and offers quick access to features like charging, HomeLink, Driver Profiles, vehicle information, and Bluetooth. Below that, the second section provides access to various apps, such as Media, Navigation, Energy, Web, Camera, and Phone. The central viewing area displays two active apps, split into upper and lower areas, with most apps expandable to fill the entire screen. The bottom section contains controls and settings for the vehicle, including doors, locks, lights, temperature settings, and a secondary volume control.
  Originally, the Model S's touchscreen was powered by a Nvidia Tegra 3 3D Visual Computing Module (VCM),with a separate Nvidia Tegra 2 VCM handling the instrument cluster.Around 2018, Tesla upgraded these two Tegra System-on-a-Chip (SoC) units to a single Intel Atom–based SoC, which powered both the main touchscreen display and the instrument cluster.[174] With the Palladium refresh, Tesla further updated the system, switching to a horizontal touchscreen orientation and an AMD Ryzen-based SoC. The touchscreen includes features like driver-side climate control, My App, the app launcher, recent apps, passenger-side climate control, and volume control.[note 5] Features, such as lock and unlock, trunk, glove box, and mirrors, could be controlled from the touchscreen.[175] Also for the 2021 refresh, Tesla implemented a "yoke" steering wheel

  In April 2024, the company announced it was laying off 10% of its employees. In June, the company moved its incorporation from Delaware to Texas. In October, the company unveiled a concept version of two autonomous vehicles – the Cybercab and Robovan – and detailed that both would be an integral part of a Tesla ridehailing service called the Tesla Network,a future service they had previously teased in 2019.

  In December 2024, a Delaware court rejected Elon Musk's $56 billion pay package from Tesla, ruling that it was not properly approved by the company's board. The decision arose from a lawsuit by Tesla shareholders who claimed the compensation was excessive and not aligned with performance metrics.

  By February 2025, Tesla saw large decreases in its stock price and sales across Europe widely attributed to Elon Musk's political advocacy and embrace of far-right politics.[94] Polling found that Musk's ties to United States President Donald Trump and his Department of Government Efficiency were strongly correlated to decreasing views of Tesla,[95][96] and triggered multiple protests, vandalism, gunfire, and arson at Tesla stores and charging stations.[97][98] By March 7, Tesla's stock had decreased every week for seven straight weeks since Musk joined the Trump administration, making it the longest losing streak for Tesla in 15 years as a public company.[99] On March 29, over 200 protests against Tesla were held worldwide.

  Frunk Design changed in 2020 Tesla Model 3

  Around August 2020, Tesla changed the design of the interior liner in the Model 3’s frunk. It no longer has the ‘frunk hook’ style screw covers, and the interior shape of the frunk was changed which leads to speculation that Tesla may be preparing to include a heat pump – similar to the Model Y (src).

  Instead, there are 2 large depressions at the top of frunk where the mounting screws are hidden. Model 3 owners should be able to simply insert a wooden dowel (or similar) longer than the depth of the screw detents and not too long to contact the hood when it’s closed, and then loop shopping bag handles over those protruding parts of the dowel.
